About

I’m Mujibur Rahman, a British Bangladeshi writer exploring life between the UK and Bangladesh through short stories, cultural reflections, and clear, grounded writing about history and current affairs.

This site is where I publish work that sits at the crossroads of identity, community, memory, and modern reality. Sometimes that looks like fiction set in British Bangladeshi neighbourhoods. Sometimes it looks like research-led writing that makes sense of Bangladesh’s past and present. Either way, the goal is the same: to tell the truth as carefully as I can, and to tell stories that feel real.

Why I Write

I’ve spent years balancing responsibilities with the urge to create something lasting. Writing became the one thing I could return to no matter how busy life got. It’s how I process what I see around me, how I preserve what matters, and how I give shape to the experiences that often go undocumented.

My long-term plan is to write more consistently and produce bigger work that reflects the depth of our communities and the complexity of our histories without reducing them to headlines.

What You Will Find On This Website

Short Stories

Fiction rooted in British Bangladeshi life, the humour, the tension, the tenderness, and the generational gaps that shape everyday reality. These stories often focus on family, belonging, faith, ambition, and the quiet compromises people make to survive and succeed.

British Bangladeshi Life

Articles and reflections on identity, culture, community issues, and what it means to live with one foot in each world. The aim is to be honest without being performative, and thoughtful without being preachy.

Bangladesh Politics And Current Affairs

Posts that follow major moments in Bangladesh with context and clarity. I focus on helping readers understand what is happening, why it matters, and what sits beneath the surface of the news cycle.

Bangladesh Defence And Security

Writing that looks at law and order, national security themes, and the institutions that shape stability. These topics are often emotional and polarising, so my approach is careful, measured, and respectful.

History, Heroes, And National Memory

Explainers and story-driven pieces on key figures, defining events, and the long shadow of 1971 and its aftermath. I write these to be readable and useful, whether you are learning for the first time or revisiting what you already know.

How I Approach Truth And Story

Not everything on this site is the same type of writing.

  • Short stories are fiction, even when they feel familiar.
  • Opinion pieces are clearly framed as opinion.
  • Research-based posts aim to be accurate and fair, and I am always open to corrections if something needs updating.

If you ever spot an error or have a reliable source that adds important context, feel free to reach out. I take that seriously.
