The Challenge Of Monetizing A Travel Blog In A Competitive Niche

Travel blogging is often described as one of the most competitive niches on the internet. Thousands of bloggers publish travel content every day, covering everything from luxury resorts and hidden beaches to budget travel tips and bucket-list destinations. With so much competition, many people would argue that starting a new travel blog today is a waste of time. I disagree.

On 31 May 2026, I launched my global travel blog, Foxi Manna, with a simple goal: to build a new passive income stream that could eventually generate income through Google AdSense and affiliate marketing. I am not a full-time travel blogger, nor am I travelling the world while writing these articles. In fact, most of this blog is being built while I work 12-hour night shifts in London, often writing late into the night when most people are asleep.

This blog post is a snapshot of my journey. It documents the challenges, doubts, goals, and determination involved in building a travel blog from scratch in a highly competitive niche. I will share why I started Foxi Manna, my strategy for reaching Google AdSense approval, the realities of balancing blogging with full-time work, and why I believe that consistent action can still create opportunities even in crowded markets.

If you have ever dreamed of building an online income stream, starting a blog, or creating a better future while working a demanding job, I hope my journey will inspire you to take action on your own goals.

A New Challenge And A New Opportunity

Life has a strange way of presenting opportunities when we least expect them. Sometimes those opportunities arrive disguised as problems, frustrations, or periods of uncertainty. For me, one such opportunity appeared during a few days away from work when I found myself thinking deeply about my future.

Like many people, I have spent years searching for ways to create additional income streams. The traditional path of exchanging time for money can provide stability, but it often leaves little room for freedom. Every hour worked is directly connected to income earned. If you stop working, the income stops too.

That reality led me to search for alternatives.

After considerable thought and brainstorming, I came up with the idea of creating a global travel blog called Foxi Manna. My vision is simple. Create a travel website that provides useful and engaging information for readers around the world while gradually building a passive income stream through advertising and, eventually, affiliate marketing.

I launched the blog on 31 May 2026 and published my first article on the same day. It may not sound like a major achievement to some people, but every successful project starts with a single step.

The first post was not just another article.

It was the beginning of a journey.

Why I Chose Travel Blogging

Many people would tell me that travel blogging is saturated.

They would probably be right.

There are countless travel blogs online. Every destination imaginable has been written about thousands of times. New travel content appears every day.

Yet despite this, I believe there is still room for success.

The internet continues to grow. More people travel every year. Millions search for travel information daily. New destinations emerge. Travel trends evolve. People constantly seek inspiration and practical advice.

I am not attempting to reinvent travel blogging.

I am not trying to create something radically different.

Instead, I am following a proven path that has already worked for many successful bloggers.

Success often comes from consistency rather than originality.

The world does not necessarily reward the person who creates something completely new. More often, it rewards the person who executes a proven strategy with persistence and discipline.

That is exactly what I intend to do.

Setting A Clear Goal

One lesson I have learned throughout life is that vague goals rarely produce meaningful results.

A goal such as “I want a successful blog” lacks clarity.

A goal such as “I want to get my travel blog monetized by Google AdSense before 31 August 2026” creates direction.

I have therefore established a clear target.

My goal is to publish more than sixty quality articles and apply for Google AdSense approval before the end of August 2026.

That gives me approximately two months to complete the challenge.

It is ambitious.

It will require sacrifice.

It will require discipline.

But I believe it is achievable.

Every major accomplishment begins as an intimidating target that eventually becomes reality through consistent action.

Writing During Long Night Shifts

As I write these words, I am sitting inside a large office building during another twelve hour night shift.

The reality is that I am not writing from a beach in Thailand.

I am not sitting inside a luxury hotel overlooking Dubai Marina.

I am not exploring the streets of Paris.

Instead, I am working nights while pursuing my dreams during the quiet hours.

This current shift marks the beginning of another seven consecutive nights at work.

The prospect is not particularly exciting.

Twelve hour shifts can feel incredibly long.

The nights sometimes seem endless.

Yet I have learned something important.

Time passes whether we use it productively or not.

I can spend these hours scrolling endlessly through social media.

I can watch television.

I can complain.

Or I can use the time to create something that may improve my future.

I choose the latter.

Every article I write is a small investment in a future version of myself.

Working Through Discomfort

The weather outside has changed dramatically.

A few days ago London was enjoying beautiful sunshine.

Now the familiar rain has returned.

The skies are grey.

The air feels heavier.

The atmosphere seems more typical of an English June.

Physically, I do not feel perfect tonight.

There are aches in my body.

A sense of tension lingers beneath the surface.

The chair I am sitting on is not particularly comfortable.

I feel slightly under the weather.

In the past, these factors might have become excuses.

I might have told myself to take the night off.

I might have postponed my goals until tomorrow.

But experience has taught me something valuable.

There will always be reasons not to act.

Waiting for perfect conditions often means waiting forever.

Success belongs to those who continue moving forward despite discomfort.

The Power Of Daily Action

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that extraordinary results often come from ordinary actions repeated consistently.

Writing one article may not seem significant.

Publishing one blog post rarely changes a person’s life.

However, writing one article every day for sixty days creates something substantial.

The mathematics of progress are fascinating.

A single drop of water seems insignificant.

Thousands of drops create a river.

A single brick seems unimportant.

Thousands of bricks create a building.

A single article may not generate income.

Sixty articles can create an online asset capable of generating revenue for years.

This understanding motivates me.

I focus less on the final destination and more on today’s actions.

The future is built through daily habits.

Using AI To Accelerate Content Creation

One challenge facing travel bloggers is obtaining photographs from around the world.

Visiting every destination personally would require enormous amounts of time and money.

Since my blog is still in its early stages, I have adopted a practical solution.

I use AI generated images to accompany my articles.

The images help illustrate destinations and maintain reader engagement.

They break up large blocks of text.

They provide visual interest.

Most importantly, they allow me to create content about destinations that I have not yet visited.

My long term goal is to eventually travel to many of these places personally.

Once the blog begins generating income, I hope to visit destinations around the world and replace some of the AI imagery with my own photographs and experiences.

For now, AI allows me to build momentum.

Hydration And Small Rituals

As I continue writing, a bottle of water sits beside me.

I have added electrolytes to it.

The original flavour is somewhat too salty for my liking, so I have added a small splash of Ribena to improve the taste.

It is a simple thing.

Yet it reminds me that productivity often depends on small habits.

Hydration matters.

Nutrition matters.

Sleep matters.

Mental health matters.

When pursuing ambitious goals, it is easy to overlook these fundamentals.

However, the foundation always matters.

A strong mind performs best when supported by a healthy body.

Managing Anxiety Through Writing

Earlier tonight, I felt a noticeable sense of anxiety.

My body felt tense.

My thoughts were racing.

There was a heaviness in my chest and shoulders.

Rather than resisting these feelings, I decided to write.

Something interesting happened.

The more words I typed, the calmer I became.

The tension gradually faded.

The anxiety lost its grip.

Writing has become a form of therapy for me.

It allows me to transfer thoughts from my mind onto the screen.

Once those thoughts are externalised, they often lose much of their emotional power.

Many people meditate.

Others exercise.

Some talk with friends.

For me, writing has become one of the most effective tools for restoring mental clarity.

More Money Is Not Always The Answer

Like many people pursuing financial freedom, I often think about money.

Additional income would certainly solve some practical problems.

However, I have also begun to realise that not every challenge can be solved financially.

Some issues are emotional.

Some are psychological.

Some require personal transformation.

Money can improve circumstances.

It can create opportunities.

It can reduce certain stresses.

But it cannot automatically create peace of mind.

True progress often requires growth across multiple areas of life.

Financial improvement is important.

Personal development is equally important.

The most successful life is usually built through a combination of both.

Ignoring The Opinions Of Others

Throughout the night, people walk past my workstation.

Some glance at the screen.

Others wonder what I am typing.

Many spend their downtime watching videos, reading the news, or sleeping.

There is nothing wrong with that.

Everyone chooses how to spend their time.

However, I have learned not to worry about what others think.

When pursuing goals, external opinions can become distractions.

Many people do not understand why someone would spend hours writing blog posts after working long shifts.

Others may view it as unrealistic.

Some may quietly doubt the possibility of success.

That is perfectly fine.

The important thing is that I believe in what I am building.

The future often belongs to those willing to continue long after others have stopped paying attention.

Turning Work Time Into Growth Time

One reason I continue writing during night shifts is because I refuse to waste time.

Time is the most valuable resource we possess.

Money can be earned again.

Opportunities can return.

Time never comes back.

Every hour spent mindlessly drifting through life is an hour permanently gone.

This perspective motivates me to use available time wisely.

Instead of merely enduring my shifts, I try to use them constructively.

Writing articles.

Planning projects.

Learning new skills.

Studying ideas.

Building assets.

The goal is not simply to survive each day.

The goal is to gradually create a better future.

Studying Reality And Human Potential

In recent months I have become increasingly interested in subjects such as quantum mechanics, consciousness, and personal transformation.

These topics raise fascinating questions.

How much influence do our thoughts have on our experiences?

Can changing internal beliefs alter external circumstances?

What role does perception play in shaping reality?

I do not claim to possess definitive answers.

In fact, I suspect nobody does.

Science continues exploring these mysteries.

Philosophers debate them.

Spiritual traditions discuss them.

What I do know is this:

The quality of our thoughts influences the quality of our actions.

Our actions influence our results.

In that sense, changing thoughts can indeed change reality.

Perhaps not through magic.

But certainly through behaviour.

Building Multiple Income Streams

The travel blog is only one component of a larger vision.

Eventually I would like to expand into additional opportunities connected to the blog.

Travel related T shirts are one possibility.

Travel guides could become another.

Affiliate marketing partnerships may follow.

Digital products could emerge later.

The internet offers countless possibilities.

The challenge is maintaining focus.

Many people fail because they chase too many ideas simultaneously.

I intend to focus primarily on building the blog first.

Once it gains traction, I can gradually expand into complementary income streams.

A strong foundation increases the likelihood of long term success.

The Reality Of The Journey

There is nothing glamorous about the process.

Tonight I forgot to bring food to work.

I will probably rely on snacks from a vending machine.

The building is becoming quieter.

Cleaners move through the hallways.

Some chat with one another.

Others play music from their phones.

Fire alarm testing occasionally interrupts the silence.

It is now past eleven o’clock.

Most people are preparing for sleep.

I am sitting here writing about goals, dreams, and future possibilities.

This is the reality behind many success stories.

Before the achievements become visible, there are countless ordinary moments of effort.

The Challenge Of Limited Time

One thought returns to my mind repeatedly.

There is so much I want to accomplish.

Yet time seems to move faster every year.

Days become weeks.

Weeks become months.

Months become years.

This awareness creates urgency.

Not panic.

Not desperation.

Just urgency.

A reminder that life is finite.

A reminder that dreams should not remain dreams forever.

At some point, action becomes necessary.

That understanding is one reason I continue pushing forward despite fatigue.

Why AdSense Approval Matters

At the moment, my blog is not monetized.

There are no advertising revenues.

No affiliate commissions.

No significant income.

However, every successful website starts at zero.

The initial objective is obtaining AdSense approval.

That milestone would provide validation that the blog meets the standards required for monetization.

More importantly, it would mark the beginning of the site’s earning potential.

I understand that approval is not guaranteed.

It may take time.

There may be setbacks.

But persistence often solves problems that talent alone cannot overcome.

Committing To Sixty Articles

Writing one quality article takes approximately three hours.

Publishing sixty articles therefore represents a substantial commitment.

The numbers are intimidating.

Yet breaking the goal into daily actions makes it manageable.

One article today.

Another tomorrow.

Then another.

And another.

Eventually sixty articles will exist.

Large goals become achievable when reduced to daily tasks.

This principle applies far beyond blogging.

The same approach can be used for fitness, business, investing, writing, and personal development.

Looking Ahead To August

As I look ahead to the end of August, I feel optimistic.

Not because success is guaranteed.

Not because the journey will be easy.

But because I have a plan.

Goals without plans are merely wishes.

Plans without action are ineffective.

Action creates progress.

Every article brings me closer to the target.

Every day of consistency strengthens the foundation.

Every small improvement compounds over time.

Whether AdSense approval arrives exactly when I hope remains uncertain.

What is certain is that I will continue moving forward.

The Journey Continues

This blog post serves as a snapshot in time.

A record of where I am today.

A reminder of the thoughts, challenges, hopes, and ambitions that exist during the early stages of building Foxi Manna.

Months from now, I may look back and smile.

Perhaps the blog will be monetized.

Perhaps it will be generating income.

Perhaps it will have opened doors to opportunities I cannot yet imagine.

For now, my responsibility is simple.

Keep writing.

Keep learning.

Keep improving.

Keep believing.

The journey toward financial freedom is rarely a straight line.

There will be obstacles, setbacks, doubts, and frustrations.

But there will also be growth, progress, lessons, and victories.

Tonight, while working another long shift in London, I have taken another step forward.

And sometimes, one step is all that is required.
